"Leru wants to underline again the importance of the European Degree (and label) as a way to strengthen European Higher Education and enhance competitiveness by fostering high-quality transnational joint programmes linked to outstanding research", states the association of 24 universities on 26/02/2025.

Discussions on the adoption of the Higher education package by the Council of European Ministers for Education are underway. This plan, proposed by the European Commission on 27/03/2024, brings together proposals for Europe's higher education sector, with the aim of working towards a European degree.

"Relevant barriers have been identified, and potential solutions have already been proposed. Strong leadership from the European Commission is now required to encourage Member States to engage meaningfully in the initiative while respecting and recognising universities’ autonomy", states Leru.
