Union of Skills: "Universities Alliances can contribute to the entire spectrum" (R. Minzatu)

"European Universities Alliances can contribute to the entire spectrum of the Union of Skills, but especially in the pillar dedicated to mobility inside our Union. They develop joint degrees, micro credentials [...] We would want the European degree to be finalised as soon as possible", says Roxana Minzatu, EVP for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness to News Tank on 04/03/2025, ahead of her presentation of the Union of Skills on 05/03.

The Union of Skills is based on four pillars:

• Deliver higher levels of basic skills with an Action Plan on Basic Skills and a Stem Education Strategic Plan "to improve skills in science, technology, engineering, and maths, promote Stem careers, attract more girls and women, and boost preparedness in the face of digital and cleantech transitions".

• Provide lifelong opportunities for adults to regularly upskill and reskill.

• Mobility of skills within the EU: the European Commission wants to improve the free movement of learners and workers through the European degree and the European VET (vocational education and training…
