"We heard how people feel we’re not capitalising on the opportunity enough. There is also commonality between Poland and the UK regarding shared interests in growth and innovation from research", says Andrew Jones, Vice-Chancellor and President at Brunel University London and UUK Research and Innovation Policy Lead, to News Tank on 03/03/2025.

Chair of the Universities UK International Horizon Europe delegation to Poland on 26/02/2025, he recalls the event: "There was a lot of enthusiasm for taking things forward. We had a very focused conversation about specific things that UK and Polish institutions could do to make a difference within a timeframe."

An example of this, "is bringing academic colleagues from both countries together in specific subject areas, such as life sciences, in a more systematic way rather than just relying on individuals to connect randomly. That’s important in making progress and translating discussions into real applications, like Polish and UK colleagues applying to Horizon Europe for funding".
