‘Universities are places where conversations can happen that couldn’t take place anywhere else. They must be safe spaces for challenging conversations and opposing viewpoints,’ says John O’Halloran, President of the University College Cork (UCC), in an interview with News Tank on 27/02/2025.

UCC is hosting the EUA Learning & Teaching Forum on 27 and 28/02 in Cork (Ireland): "Ireland is on the edge of Europe, we are the most western territory and it’s important to connect with our European colleagues and make sure we orient ourselves towards Europe."

As President and former Vice President of Teaching and Learning, John O'Halloran reports that hosting the EUA Forum is major because "there is no better way than learning together. Students face the same challenges everywhere: accommodation, mental health, digital fluency, using AI… By working together, we can develop and co-develop policies and practices. We can translate conversations into policies in our respective countries and universities."
