EUA Learning & Teaching Forum 2025: Main takeaways to achieve a "parity of esteem" with research

The EUA Learning & Teaching Forum 2025, organised by the association and hosted by the University College Cork (UCC, Ireland) on 27 and 28/02/2025 brought together more than 250 participants from over 30 countries to "give visibility to our work and good practice of member universities. It's also there to encourage exchanges about the quality of teaching, in a collegial and non-competitive way", stated Anne Lequy, Chair of the Learning & Teaching Committee of the EUA and Board member of the association.

According to her, education is less visible than research and impact, the two other pillars the EUA focuses on. "The Learning & Teaching Forum is, therefore, a unique platform with a broad scope for exchanging views on issues related to the quality of higher education."

John O'Halloran, the President of UCC, opened the Forum by highlighting the role of universities worldwide: "Universities can face social and economic challenges for students, even through political crises and wars or through changes like AI. These issues affect us all, and we must learn from each other to face them…
