EIC Pathfinder 2024: €116 M for 31 Challenge project winners, €138 M for 45 Open project winners

31 innovation projects are selected as winners of the European Innovation Council's Pathfinder Challenges 2024 call for projects, with total funding of €116 M, announces the council on 27/03/2025.

The EIC Pathfinder Challenges is a call for cutting-edge research projects aimed at achieving breakthroughs in five strategic areas in 2024: solar fuel technology, cement and concrete as carbon sinks, nature-inspired alternatives for food packaging and agricultural films, nanoelectronics, and the EU's space infrastructure.

Proposals selected from 401 eligible projects will receive an average of €3.73 M in EU funding. Most of the projects are coordinated by a Spanish or Italian institution. Participants come mainly from higher education institutions (38%), private organisations (34%) and research bodies (23%).

Calls for proposals for the EIC Pathfinder Challenges 2025 are open until 29/10/2025.

At the same time, the EIC Pathfinder Open 2024 call for projects in all areas of science, technology or applications, with no predefined thematic priorities, closed on 06/03/2024. The EIC selected 45…
