EIC Step Scale Up call results: Seven companies selected out of 34 proposals

The European Commission announces that seven companies have successfully passed the evaluation phase of the first cohort of the EIC Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (Step) Scale Up call, on 03/04/2025, the second day of the EIC Summit in Brussels. They will be put forward for investment decisions by the EIC Fund (the venture arm of the Council).

Launched on 31/10/2024, Step is a new financial instrument that the EIC is testing in 2025 with a budget of €300 M. It will enable the EIC to continue supporting deeptech start-ups through larger investments-between €10 and €30 M (per company)-aiming to leverage private co-investment and achieve financing rounds of €50 to €150 M or more.

"This addresses the market gap in such financing rounds, which are critical for scaling breakthrough innovations in Europe", says the Commission.

The seven companies selected from the 34 that submitted their proposals for the first batch and the 22 that were invited to an interview with high-level independent experts are from:
