MSCA 2024: €713.4 M invested for doctoral and postdoctoral fellowship programmes

€608.6 M will be invested in 149 doctoral programmes with the objective to train over 1,800 doctoral candidates as part of the 2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks call, announces the European Commission on 02/04/2025.

Of these programmes, 16 are more specialised than the traditional ones, aimed at developing PhD candidates' skills:

• Eight are Industrial Doctoral programmes: doctoral candidates, who will be trained outside academia, including in industry and business, will also benefit from joint industry-academia supervision. This represents €26 M of all grants.
• A further €33 M will be allocated to eight joint doctoral programmes, "which promote joint selection, training and supervision leading to joint or multiple doctoral degrees".

The European Research Executive Agency received 1,417 applications for this call. This represents a success rate of 10.6%.

In February, the Commission also announced that it would provide €104.8 M of co-funding for 12 doctoral training and 15 postdoctoral fellowship programmes.
