"We have to raise the flag of the fifth freedom" (Enrico Letta at the Civica Global Forum)

"The Civica Global Forum is an event where we have to make a revolution by showing that our universities want to take the lead in the future of European integration. We have to raise the flag of the fifth freedom. Innovation, research skills, education, and knowledge have to be at the true core of Europe", states Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister and Dean of the IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs, at the Civica Global Forum organised by the Civica alliance at IE University (Spain) on 06 and 07/05/2025.

Enrico Letta's report on the single market, published in April 2024, promoted the need to add the freedom of knowledge, skills, research, innovation, and education to the freedoms of goods, services, capital, and people. He reiterates this idea in his speech by calling on the universities to raise their voices and promote the alliances.
