Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland: Diarmuid O’Brien appointed new CEO from September 2025

Diarmuid O’Brien is appointed by the Board of Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland as its new CEO, announces the state agency responsible for supporting research and innovation on 14/05/2025. He will take up his new role in September 2025.

James Lawless, the Irish Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science welcomes the appointment and declares: "I look forward to working with [Diarmuid O’Brien] and the Board to realise the ambition and opportunity for R&I in Ireland created through the establishment of the agency.
