Civica Global Forum: Main takeaways on how universities provide solutions to global challenges

The Civica Global Forum, organised by Civica, the European University of Social Sciences, at IE University (Madrid, Spain) on 06 and 07/05/2025, highlighted that "in these uncertain times, universities must demonstrate their full value to society, as engines of knowledge, innovation and defenders of democratic values", as stated by Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University.

Cornelia Woll, President of Hertie School (Germany), said that universities have to change the way they educate in "a world where a shared commitment to the common good can no longer be taken for granted. We need to revisit foundational ideas. Our universities must help students develop the capacity to manage the balance between an ethic of moral conviction and an ethic of responsibility—the part we currently understand and teach the least."
