Science diplomacy: "Universities are instrumental in building Europe's connections" (J. M. Mueller, DGRI)

"Science, technology and innovation are playing an increasingly important role in international relations, and have repercussions on economic growth, economic security, military security, and are increasingly linked to many geopolitical aspects", states Jean-Christophe Mauduit, Associate Professor of Science Diplomacy at University College London (UK), on 12/06/2025.

He is speaking at the event 'Science diplomacy at universities: the what, how and why of connecting universities and governments', organised by the League of European Research Universities (Leru).

The discussion follows a European Commission report titled "A European Framework for Science Diplomacy", published in February 2025 and highlighting the role universities play in international relations and conflict resolution. Jean-Christophe Mauduit was one of the group leaders of this report.
