Nature: Adoption of transparent peer review for new research articles

"After a successful pilot phase, Nature is adopting the transparent peer review process, reinforcing knowledge sharing and the principles of open science", says Springer Nature Group on 23/06/2025.

"As of 16/06/2025, all primary research articles submitted to Nature and accepted for publication automatically undergo transparent peer review. By publishing both the review reports and the authors' responses, Nature offers greater visibility of exchanges between scientists, in perfect keeping with the principles of open science."

"Peer review is essential for guaranteeing the rigour and reliability of scientific work. It helps to improve articles and helps authors to refine their conclusions. However, the exchanges between authors, reviewers and publishers are often invisible. By publishing the reviewers' files, we are bringing greater transparency to the editorial process - a particularly valuable advantage for young researchers", points out Magdalena Skipper, editor-in-chief of Nature.
