Results of the second phase of the EIC Step Scale Up call: Four companies selected from 19

The European Commission announces that four companies have successfully passed the evaluation phase of the second cohort of the EIC Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (Step) Scale Up call, on 12/06/2025. Together receiving up to a total of €90 M of equity investments, they will be put forward for investment decisions by the EIC Fund, the venture arm of the Council.

Launched on 31/10/2024, Step is a new financial instrument that the EIC is testing in 2025 with a budget of €300 M. It will enable the EIC to continue supporting deeptech start-ups through larger investments-between €10 and €30 M (per company), aiming to leverage private co-investment and achieve financing rounds of €50 to €150 M or more.

The four companies selected from the 19 that submitted their proposals for the first batch and the five that were invited to an interview with high-level independent experts are:

• Multiverse Computing (Spain) in the field of quantum/AI;
• Hyimpulse Technologies (Germany) in the field of satellite launch services;
• Dronamics (Bulgaria, Ireland) in the field of drones for cargo…
