Utrecht University (The Netherlands): Hans Brug appointed President as of November 2025

"The Supervisory Board of Utrecht University has appointed Johannes (Hans) Brug as the new President of the Executive Board with effect from 01/01/2026. He will succeed Anton Pijpers, who will retire after his second term as President ends on 01/11/2025", announces the Dutch university on 15/07/2025.

Hans Brug is currently Director General of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment and Professor of Health Behaviour at the University of Amsterdam.

"Hans is an experienced, decisive and empathetic leader with broad academic experience. He is focused on collaboration and actively pursues strong connections and partnerships with the wider community", says Karin Laglas, Supervisory Board Chair.
