Germany: Launch of the Global Minds Initiative to attract international talents

The Global Minds Initiative provides international research talent with career prospects in the German scientific system, therefore "lastingly strengthening the German and European Research Area", announces the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space on 29/07/2025.

The goals of this initiative are:
• "offering career prospects in science to the best minds from all over the world,
• providing a safe haven of freedom for scientific research,
• intensifying international research collaborations,
• and enhancing innovation and value creation in cutting-edge fields in science."

"With the freedom of science enshrined in the Basic Law, its excellent research infrastructures and broad spectrum of career prospects, Germany is already one of the most attractive locations for science and research. Particularly given the mounting pressure on the freedom of science in many places, Germany continues to be an attractive destination for researchers from all over the world in times of global polarisation", declares the Ministry.
