Business schools, world universities, sustainability,...: A tour of the 2025 rankings

From academic performances to environmental commitment, News Tank covered several rankings judging the quality of HEIs depending on different criteria in the first half of 2025, in addition to several rankings of global and European universities.

The year started with the FT MBA 2025 Ranking, published in February, which saw the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania retaining its first place, and Columbia Business School (U.S.) and IESE Business School (Spain) completing the top three of business schools.

In March, the Times Higher Education released its annual analysis of universities headed by women: 55 of the top 200 universities in the THE World University Rankings 2025 were on the list, which represents five more women than in 2024 and 27 more than in 2015, when THE began producing this analysis (+82%).

The CWUR ranking 2025 and the 2026 QS World University Rankings (published in June) both had an American lead (respectively, Harvard University and MIT), but also saw a rise among Chinese institutions, with China surpassing the U.S. for the first time as the country…
