Launched in May 2024, News Tank Academic is starting its second academic year. Over the past year, our editorial development has grown steadily. We have published nearly 600 articles: original English-language content including news stories, interviews, appointments, policy reports and event coverage, designed for teams managing international and European affairs within institutions.

Among the key topics covered: the consequences of Donald Trump’s election on global higher education and research, ongoing debates on the next European Framework Programme and the proposed European Degree, the impact of artificial intelligence on institutional strategies, the shape of the new European Commission, the UK United Kingdom ’s re-association with Horizon Europe and efforts by British universities to reconnect across the continent.

We also provide international benchmarking on the strategies of major higher education and research institutions. The European university alliances are closely monitored, particularly regarding their governance and strategic priorities.
