Erasmus+ 2028-2034 budget: « A similar balance between the different actions as before » (R. Minzatu)

« There will be a very similar balance between the different strands and key actions [of Erasmus + 2028-2034] as before », states Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of social rights and skills, quality jobs and preparedness, on 02/09/2025 during an event co-organised by Leru and The Guild.

The Commission's proposal for the Erasmus+ programme is €40.8 Bn, a 55.73% increase compared to its predecessor (€26.2 Bn).

According to Roxana Minzatu, the Commission reorganised the key actions « so that the mobility opportunities are very prominent, but it’s not about moving or taking resources from alliances or from universities ».

« We need these alliances to be supported not only by Erasmus +, but also by complementary programmes like Horizon Europe for their research and innovation dimension, the new Competitiveness Fund for closer cooperation with businesses and the National Regional and Partnership Plans », she says, adding that she had to go through « countless and complicated negotiations » to get the synergies anchored in proposed legislations…
