Africa-EU Partnership in Higher education: opportunities in skills development and intra-African mobility

"Africa has a very young population, over 60% under the age of 30. With the EU, we identified the following issues: skills development and intra-African mobility to enable Africans to work together and collaborate for their development. We have also found that research, innovation, and employability of our graduates are issues that we need to focus on", says Olusola Oyewole, Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities on 10/09/2025.

Together with Claire Herrmann, policy officer in the unit responsible for International cooperation in the European Commission, he presents the Africa-EU partnerships in higher education during a session of the EAIE, taking place in Gothenburg from 09 to 12/09/2025.

For the first time, the EAIE has a "Study and Research in Africa" booth in the exhibition hall. It was developed by the Daad, the EAIE, and the European Commission.
