European Commission: launching of AI-in-Science and Apply AI strategies

The European Commission launches the AI-in-Science strategy, which aims to put the EU at the forefront of AI-driven research and scientific excellence. The Commission also releases an Apply AI strategy for industries and the public sector.

Announcing the strategies on 7/10/2025, Henna Virkunnen, the European Commission Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, says: “They are a vital step in making Europe an AI continent”.

The AI-in-Science strategy is based on Raise, a virtual European institute to pool and coordinate AI resources for developing AI and applying it in science.

The Apply AI strategy aims to harness AI's transformative potential by driving adoption of AI across strategic and public sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, mobility, manufacturing, construction, agri-food, defence, communications and culture.

It will also support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their specific needs and help Industries integrate AI into their operations.
