Earto Innovation Awards 2025: CEA and VTT winners for Dragonfly and Cryogenic CMOS

The Earto Innovation Awards 2025 for Impact Delivered and Impact Expected, respectively, were awarded to CEA, a French RTO, and VTT, a Finnish RTO, on 14/10/2025.

The independent jury, composed of Christian Ehler, MEP; Georg List, Chair of BusinessEurope; Elisa Rivera, General Director of Planning, Coordination & Knowledge Transfer at the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain; and Michiel Scheffer, President of the Board of the European Innovation Council, awarded:

• CEA’s Dragonfly project, a revolutionary universal sensor that surpasses traditional vibration sensors in sensitivity, versatility, and cost-effectiveness;
• VTT’s Cryogenic CMOS project, featuring innovative chips designed to minimise energy dissipation and operate in extremely cold environments.

The second and third prizes in the Impact Delivered category go to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (Germany) for the Next Generation Pathogen Diagnostics, "an innovative approach to detect microbial pathogens in blood", and to TNO (The Netherlands) for NEStore Newton Energy Solution, "a new thermal battery designed to reduce…
