EPP selects Christian Ehler as rapporteur for Horizon Europe 2028-2034

The European People's Party (EPP) group has chosen German MEP Christian Ehler to be its rapporteur for Horizon Europe as part of negotiations for the 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), News Tank learned on 27/10/2025.

Christian Ehler has been a Member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy for over ten years and served as rapporteur for both Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) and Horizon Europe (2021-2027). He set up the Itre Working Group on the Implementation of the Framework Programmes, which ensures parliamentary oversight of the EU’s research and innovation funding. In addition, he is Chair of the European Parliament’s STOA, the Panel for the Future of Science and Technology.

He is also a member of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union, including the EU-Morocco, EU-Tunisia and EU-Algeria Joint Parliamentary Committees and substitute for the Committee on Budgets.
