Going Global 2025: British Council aims to "promote reputation for quality", CEO says

Scott McDonald, Chief Executive of the British Council, has set out his organisation's priorities.

Speaking at the Going Global 2025 event in London, McDonald said: "Our work is to grow and diversify UK transnational education with international priorities. We want to work collaboratively around the world to improve insight, promote reputation for quality, informed policy and broker connections, and showcase the transformative power of transnational education."

He was speaking at the opening plenary of the conference, organised by the British Council, the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, from 28-30/10 in London.

McDonald said transnational education was "overseas institutions teaching students in their home countries and an innovative pathway to tertiary education: this dynamic and flexible model expands access, supports innovation and aligns with partner countries’ development goals. At its best, it builds high-quality strategic partnerships and is grounded in inclusion."
