EdTech is a key pillar for Europe to stay competitive, senior EIT representative says

Ilaria Tagliavini, Head of Operations at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), said EdTech is a key pillar for equipping European education systems with the skills and entrepreneurial mindset needed to stay competitive. This is one of the main missions of the EIT, she said at the EIT Ed Tech Conference 2025, held in Brussels on 30/10/2025.

EdTech is the integration of digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning and educational administration.

Together with 200 EdTech stakeholders, she reflected on the achievements and challenges that remain to be overcome to implement these tools.

Martin Vendel, Academy Director of the EIT Urban Mobility, noted some issues that still needed to be addressed:
• the overall awareness of existing EdTech solutions remained too low;
• teachers and education leaders needed incentives to adopt EdTech, as they often see it as extra work instead of a helpful tool;
