European Commission launches call for evidence to shape future EU Quantum Act

The European Commission has invited contributions to shape the future EU Quantum Act.

With quantum technologies poised to power the next wave of innovation, the European Commission will present the Act to position Europe as a global leader in this field, it announced on 31/10/2025. It is expected to be adopted in 2026.

It has three main objectives:

• boosting research and innovation;
• scaling up industrial capacity, including pilot lines and a design facility;
• reinforcing supply chain resilience and governance.

It will build on the Quantum Europe Strategy and complement the Chips Act, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and Iris² (Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite).

Contributions are invited from Member State authorities, EU agencies, EuroHPC (European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking) and EuroQCI (European Quantum Communication Infrastructure) infrastructure operators, as well as from industry, including SMEs, start-ups, research organisations, universities, standardisation bodies and experts in cybersecurity, defence and quantum…
