Innovation Fund will distribute €2.9 Bn to 61 cutting-edge net-zero technology projects

The EU's Innovation Fund will distribute €2.9 Bn to 61 cutting-edge net-zero technology projects that were selected as part of a call for net-zero technologies (IF24 Call) launched in December 2024, the European Commission announced on 03/11/2025.

The projects are aimed at strengthening Europe's technological leadership and speed up the deployment of innovative decarbonisation solutions.

The call attracted 359 applications, requesting a total of €21.7 Bn in support, when the available budget was €2.4 Bn.

The selected projects span 19 industrial sectors and different scales, from manufacturing to large-scale projects.

"The 61 projects have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cutting some 221 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent over their first decade of operation. This is comparable to the annual emissions of 9.9 million average European cars", the Commission explained.

The Fund is using estimated revenues of €40 Bn from the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), a carbon market that charges companies for their CO₂ emissions to reduce greenhouse gases. These…
