Erasmus+ work programme 2026 to provide €145.6m for European alliances over two years

The European Commission has published the Erasmus+ Work Programme 2026 and guide, allocating €5.2 billion to Erasmus+ actions for the year 2026. Of this, €4.59bn will be specifically dedicated to education and training.

This year, the programme, which was published on 12/11/2025, also includes a call dedicated to European university alliances. With a budget of €145.6 million, it covers two years of funding, bridging the gap between the end of funding for the first and third waves of alliances (renewed or starting in 2022) and the start of the next Erasmus+ programme for 2028-2034 under the next Multiannial Financial Framework (MFF). The announced budget will cover approximately 20 projects (the Commission's latest call for projects provided for €3.6m per alliance per year). In this case, each of the 20 alliances would receive €7.28m.

Of this, €1.6 m of this amount comes from Heading 6, the budget category for "Neighbourhood and the World", made available for this call through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, will further support the participation of higher education…
