EUA asks the Commission to detail budget allocations for different Erasmus+ actions

The European Universities Association (EUA) has asked the European Commission to provide a breakdown of the proposed budget allocation for the different Erasmus+ actions.

In a policy paper published on 25/11/2025, the EUA put forward five recommendations for the development of the next Erasmus+ programme 2028-2034.

It urged policymakers to:

• increase the Erasmus+ budget;
• allocate tentative budgets to sectors and actions;
• clarify the proposal for full degree scholarships of excellence in strategic fields;
• continue the European Universities Initiative;
• continue to focus on inclusion, as well as other societal priorities;
• make the most of the lessons learnt from the current programme.

"The current proposal for 2028-2034 (€41 billion, compared to €26.2bn for 2021-2027) is not sufficient to cover inflation, increased costs and integrated actions (Solidarity Corps, outgoing third country mobility), as well as new actions such as full degree scholarships of excellence in strategic fields," stated the EUA.
