Una Europa consortium defines fundamental principles to build alliances governance structures

Una Europa European university has proposed fundamental principles for the construction of the governance structure of alliances, stating that it "is a space for continuous innovation".

On 27/11/2025, the Una Europa alliance presented its reflection paper “Building a ‘University of the Future’” during the event “Governance in European University Alliances” in Brussels.

"Building 'universities of the future' requires alliances to forge their own paths, borrowing inspiration from others but tailoring solutions to their unique contexts. Each alliance and, in turn, its governance is bespoke. The European Universities initiative is evolving quickly", stated the alliance.

Una Europa proposes three fundamental principles that can be adapted by other alliances to their specific contexts:

• Adaptability, which allows structures to evolve according to emerging needs;
• Transparency, which guarantees open communication and common strategies;
• Responsiveness, which ensures that contemporary challenges are addressed through internal and external expertise.
