AU-EU Summit: "Much remain to be done" to implement agendas, according to The Guild

The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities said on 09/12/2025 that "much remains to be done" to turn into reality the agendas agreed on by the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) during the 2025 AU-EU Summit.

However, The Guild welcomes the Summit declaration’s high-level commitments to “investing in education, research, science, technology and skills development to drive further scientific discoveries and innovative solutions".

The seventh AU-EU Summit, hosted by Angola on 24-25/11, marked 25 years of partnership between the two continental unions. Leaders agreed on a Joint Vision for 2030, including the long-term commitment to the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.

The Guild welcomes the Vision, building on other recent policies that articulate the pathway for African states to increase domestic financing and foster new models of global partnerships in research and innovation.
