The European Commission has adopted the work programme for Horizon Europe for 2026-2027 with a €14 billion budget.

The new programme, adopted on 11/12/2025, includes new features, like the so-called "horizontal calls" dedicated to projects across several research areas.

These include:

• a call for R&I for the Clean Industrial Deal, the EU strategy to boost industry competitiveness, which allocates €540m to speed up deployment of clean technologies and decarbonised industrial solutions;
• a call for AI in Science with a budget of €90m, which will support applications in sectors such as advanced materials, agriculture and healthcare. This will contribute to the Resource for AI in Science in Europe initiative (RAISE), a virtual institute to pool resources to advance AI-driven scientific breakthroughs;
• The New European Bauhaus Facility, a funding tool that fosters innovative solutions for the transformation of neighbourhoods, will allocate €210m to revitalise neighbourhoods through design for sustainability and inclusion.

The work programme also expands the Choose Europe initiative…
