Spanish Research Agency allocates over €910 million for research projects and public-private partnerships

The Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) has allocated €666.9 million for aid to knowledge- generation projects and actions for the training of predoctoral research staff, it announced on 09/12/2025.

The aid to Knowledge Generation Projects and actions for the training of predoctoral research staff is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) funds.

"Funding is provided for research projects aimed at both promoting the generation and significant advancement of scientific knowledge and proven quality research, as well as advancing towards finding solutions to societal challenges," said the AEI.

"To this end, actions are promoted both nationally and internationally, as well as actions aimed at training predoctoral research staff through the completion of doctoral theses associated with research projects."

A total of 3,248 grants have been awarded to projects, amounting to €512.7m, as well as €154.2m for 1,149 predoctoral contracts associated with these projects. The success rate was 45.2%.
