EU and Jordan want to increase participation in Horizon Europe

The European Union and Jordan have stated they will foster cooperation in research and innovation, notably by "increasing Jordan's participation to Horizon Europe".

The EU and Jordan held their first-ever bilateral Summit on 08/01/2026 in Amman, Jordan, where they adopted a Joint Statement.

Both sides expressed hope to foster R&I collaboration, building on Jordan’s signature in July 2025 of the renewed Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA). This initiative is a research and innovation initiative launched as part of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation programme. It aims to encourage cooperation between the countries of the European Union and non-EU Mediterranean countries to address common challenges related to water management, food security and environmental sustainability.
