Four Dutch universities open shared campus to "support an ambitious interuniversity collaboration"

Leiden University, Open University of the Netherlands, Delft University of Technology, the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) and Universities of the Netherlands (a consultative body of 14 government-funded research universities) have opened a new shared campus in The Hague, they announced on 30/01/2026.

The campus, set in a former department store, has 4,000 students and staff members from all five institutions and opened on 02/02/2026. Named the Spui Campus after the street on which it is located, it will "support an ambitious interuniversity collaboration", said Leiden University.

According to the university, it will host two new large Dutch-taught bachelor’s programmes in The Hague: Economie & Samenleving (Economy and Living Together) and Cyber Security & Cyber Crime. "The teaching and research in the building will closely align with The Hague’s profile as an international centre of peace and justice, and with its urban, national and global character," the Dutch university added.
