EIC awards €96 million of Transition grants to 40 projects

The European Innovation Council (EIC) has awarded €96 million in grants to 40 projects following the EIC's 2025 Transition call for proposals.

The EIC announced on 09/02/2026 that among 611 submissions, 40 will receive a grant of up to €2.5m upon signing a grant agreement.

The EIC funds selected projects to validate and demonstrate technologies and to develop business plans, helping them prepare for market entry. With no predefined themes, EIC Transition is open to proposals from all scientific and technological fields. The selected projects will benefit from EIC Business Acceleration Services, such as coaching, mentoring and partnering events, and may also fast-track to the EIC Accelerator to support commercialisation and scale-up.

The selected participants come from 17 EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries.

Of the submissions, 130 come from European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept projects. For the first time, 228 proposals received a "Seal of Excellence" after being rated excellent but not funded due to budget limits. They are recommended for support from…
