Seventeen higher education organisations urge Erasmus+ 2028-2034 to keep mobility at its core

European universities, higher education institutions and student organisations have called for the Erasmus+ 2028-2034 programme to continue to fund mobility and transnational cooperation as its main mission.

Seventeen organisations representing European universities and higher education institutions, student organisations and stakeholders published on 18/02/2026 eight amendments to the European Commission's Erasmus+ 2028-2034 proposal, which is currently being negotiated between the EU's member states and MEPs as part of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

The signatories, which include the EUA, The Guild, and Leru, called for reaffirming support for learning mobility and institutional cooperation across all study fields as a core objective of the programme.

"The proposal’s increased attention to skills development in strategic sectors should build on rather than dilute the programme’s longstanding strengths," said the organisations.
