Italy and Uzbekistan "strengthen academic ties" with 10 joint scientific projects

Italy and Uzbekistan presented 10 joint scientific projects, co-financed by the two countries with one million euros each, during the second Italian-Uzbek Higher Education Forum held in Rome on 18/02/2026.

"The selected projects cover strategic areas for sustainable development, technological innovation and strengthening capacity within the two university systems, with a particular focus on applied research and technology transfer," the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, said.

The projects were selected among 160 proposals submitted in a joint call from the Uzbek and Italian ministers.

"Academic cooperation creates stable relationships between universities, researchers and local communities. This means strengthening the internationalisation of our universities, training new professionals and generating innovation capable of generating concrete development for both countries," Bernini declared.

The event was part of the Strategic Partnership signed in 2023 by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It implements…
