MEPs from education committee visit UK to discuss joining next Erasmus+ programme

MEPs from the Parliament's education and culture committee (CULT) have visited the United Kingdom to discuss the UK taking part Erasmus+ programme for 2028-2034.

Five MEPs visited London from 16 to 18/02/2026. They met representatives of the UK government and the governments of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as members of the UK Parliament’s Houses of Commons and Lords and representatives of King's College. The participants of the meetings welcomed unanimously the reassociation of the UK to the Erasmus+ programme for 2027 and "the importance of a successful participation to pave the way for the full association for the 2028-2034 period", said the EP.

The European Parliament also explained that the discussions had pointed out "[Erasmus+'s] clear advantages in comparison with similar initiatives introduced by the UK since it left the EU programme". Furthermore, both sides recognised the short timeline to launch the application process for 2027.
