The Guild joins coalition supporting Ukraine’s research and innovation landscape

The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities has joined a coalition to support Ukraine’s immediate needs and the long-term recovery of its research and innovation landscape.

The Guild announced on 24/02/2026 that it was joining the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine. Launched in 2025 by the Italian and Ukrainian ministries for education and research, together with UNESCO and the European Commission, the coalition is an international initiative that supports the short- and long-term recovery of Ukraine’s research and innovation sector and promotes its role in the country’s wider reconstruction.

The Guild is committed to strengthening the contribution of universities to efforts to rebuild Ukraine. It aims to:

• raise awareness of the vital role of research and innovation (R&I) in Ukraine’s reconstruction and strengthen related advocacy efforts;
• support the rebuilding and modernisation of Ukraine’s scientific and research infrastructure;
