European Commission launches initiatives for inclusive and equal education

The European Commission has launched initiatives to provide high-quality and inclusive education and training so that girls and boys have equal opportunities.

Roxana Mînzatu, European Commission Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, and Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, presented the Gender Equality Strategy 2026-2030 on 06/03/2026. "Gender equality is the engine of strong democracies...That’s why we are taking concrete steps: to tackle gender-based violence, boost women’s economic empowerment, promote gender-sensitive healthcare and education, encourage equal sharing of care responsibilities and increase women’s leadership," Lahbib said.

In the strategy, the Commission will support member states to provide gender-sensitive education, i.e. ensuring all children in the EU, regardless of their gender, have access to high-quality and inclusive education and training.
