Algeria renews its partnership for research and innovation with the EU until 2027

The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria has renewed its partnership for research and innovation with the EU.

The European Union and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria successfully concluded negotiations on Algeria’s participation for 2025-2027 in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) on 11/03/2026.

Algeria is expected to contribute €6 million to the partnership between 2025 and 2027, in addition to the funding provided by the European Commission. The conclusion of these negotiations is intended to reinforce scientific cooperation between Algeria, the European Union and the 19 other countries participating in the PRIMA initiative.

PRIMA is a research and innovation programme supported by Horizon Europe that, in turn, supports collaborative projects tackling water scarcity, promoting sustainable agriculture and strengthening food system resilience.
