Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry announces new school of Biomedical Artificial Intelligence

The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, based near Munich, announced on 12/03/2026 that it will open a school of Biomedical Artificial Intelligence.

The school will be the first initiative to bring university and non-university institutes in Germany together in a graduate programme focused on AI. The organisation hopes that the school will foster a better understanding of the causes of health and disease and boost innovation in diagnostics and therapy.

The rationale for the school presents it as an environment where forward-looking research can be fostered. It outlines plans for infrastructure, computing resources, a supervision model and curriculum, and provides a clear qualification programme for doctoral candidates.
