Marcel Levi reappointed as Executive Board's president of the Dutch Research Council (NWO)

Marcel Levi has been reappointed as president of the Executive Board of the Dutch Research Council (NWO). His second term will begin on 01/04/2026, announced the Dutch organisation on 18/03/2026.

The professor was reappointed by Rianne Letschert, Minister of Education, Culture and Science. He has been president of NWO since 01/04/2021.

“In my new term as NWO’s president, I will devote myself again with great enthusiasm to strengthening Dutch science. It is a tremendous honour... to be able to contribute in this role to talent development, promoting scientific and societal impact, and strengthening the link between fundamental, applied and practice-oriented research," Levi declared.

"The Supervisory Board is convinced that, building on his first term as president, Levi will further enhance NWO’s significance for science in the Netherlands. In addition to his day-to-day duties on the NWO board, he is widely valued as chair of the Knowledge Coalition and vice-president of Science Europe," said NWO.
