R&I organisations seek €6bn Erasmus+ boost and Horizon Europe support from Global Europe 2028-2034

Universities and research organisations have asked for the EU’s Global Europe external development and cooperation programme for 2028-2034 to allocate €6 billion to Erasmus+ and include provisions supporting Horizon Europe (FP10).

The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities and the European Research Alliance for Sustainable Development (ERASuD) said on 29/04/2027: "Global Europe instruments could support the scaling, deployment and anchoring of [FP10] research results in partner countries where there is strong potential for impact and replication".

Another priority for The Guild and ERASuD for Global Europe 2028-2034 is better integration of the Global Gateway strategy, which guides sustainable global infrastructure and connectivity investments. It would improve working more closely with partner countries by letting them shape their own priorities while still supporting them through flexible EU funding.
