Germany: Anja Achtziger elected President of Zeppelin University

Social and economic psychologist Anja Achtziger will be the new president of Zeppelin University (ZU) in Friedrichshafen, Germany, the institution announced on 18/03/2026. She was elected by the ZU Senate and University Council and appointed by the ZU Foundation, the university’s sponsoring foundation.

Achtziger has been a member of ZU since 2010 and has held the position of chair of social and economic psychology since 2012. She has also served as vice-president of research since 2021 and has been acting president of ZU since 2015.

Achtziger graduated with a degree in psychology from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 1997. She later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Konstanz in 2003 with a doctorate in psychology. In 2008, she earned her habilitation degree and received the “venia legendi” (authorisation to teach) in the field of psychology.
