EIB Group scales up European Tech Champions Initiative by creating a platform for investors

The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group announced it will launch in the second quarter of 2026 a dedicated European Tech Champions Initiative (ETCI) platform for investors such as insurance companies, pension funds, commercial banks, asset managers, and other financial sector actors.

The Boards of Directors of the EIB Group, which includes the EIB and the European Investment Fund (EIF), endorsed the move for the ETCI, the biggest fund-of-funds in Europe dedicated to scaling up innovative European companies to compete globally in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, security and deep tech, on 25/03/2026.

This dedicated platform will enable investors to specify how much they wish to invest in projects. Ultimately, the target for commitments is around €15 billion, intending to mobilise a total of €80bn in investment by leveraging other sources of funding.
