Arqus alliance updates mission statement with new strategy for next ten years

The Arqus universities' alliance has adopted a renewed mission statement and a long-term strategy to guide the alliance’s development over the next decade (2026-2035), it announced on 24/03/2026.

The 2026-2035 strategy highlights the central role of democratic resilience. In a context of geopolitical threats and digital disruption, the alliance identifies universities as vital instruments for human progress. As the document states: "Democratic resilience will centre the upcoming period 2026-35 and will continue to form the backbone of the alliance vision, mission, goals and core values".

The first phase of the strategy focuses on upscaling and consolidation. The alliance has set five goals to be achieved by 2030:
• Implementation of 10 full and flexible European degrees at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels and the full roll-out of the Arqus Academy for quality assurance;
• Establishing self-funded joint research projects and aiming for 50 joint research project applications per year;
• Reaching 10,000 participants in intra-alliance mobility annually;
