€118 million awarded to 30 breakthrough research projects under 2025 EIC Pathfinder Challenges

The European Innovation Council (EIC) has selected 30 new projects under the 2025 EIC Pathfinder Challenges Call for cutting-edge research projects, it announced on 01/04/2026.

The projects deliver breakthroughs in four strategic areas:
• Biotech for climate resilient crops and plant-based biomanufacturing;
• Generative-AI-based agents to revolutionise medical diagnosis and treatment of cancer;
• Towards autonomous robot collectives delivering collaborative tasks in dynamic unstructured construction environments;
• Waste-to-value devices - circular production of renewable fuels, chemicals and materials.

"The successful projects were chosen from 647 submitted eligible proposals and will receive around €118 million of EU funding (on average €3.93 million per project)," the EIC said.

Selected projects will receive grant funding and access to coaching through the EIC Business Acceleration Services, as well as potential fast-track access to the EIC Accelerator, the EIC said.
