ETH Zurich's annual report shows how university bolsters Switzerland as an innovation hub

The ETH Zurich annual report 2025 shows that the university is contributing to Switzerland's innovation capacity by training needed skilled professionals, translating research into practice and supporting knowledge transfer to industry through new ventures and investment.

The report, published on 16/04/2026, highlights that the Swiss public university mainly contributes through:
• Ventures: ETH reports a record-breaking 46 new ventures in 2025, with 24 ETH Spin-offs and 22 ETH Startups, depending on whether the companies were founded based on ETH research results;
• Research successes reflected in real-world applications: new technologies were developed by ETH researchers, and research was also applied to decision-making, with ETH researchers conducting analyses for the federal government;
• Graduates for the Swiss labour market: the university awards around 4,000 master’s and doctoral degrees each year, supplying the Swiss labour market with key professionals. 97% of master's graduates and 98% of doctoral graduates find a job within a year, a majority of them staying in Switzerland…
